Knowledge can be constructed by building on previous achievements and discoveries. In the case of social work, this implies linking practical knowledge acquired through intervention processes in the social reality with scientific advances in the different social sciences. Both these dimensions, the scientific and the practical, are integrated into a disciplinary body of knowledge whose aim is to address social problems and needs.
