Crisis and policies of cost containment, public and private, hinder strategies of reconciling work and private life. However, the European Commission documents insist on defending the importance of the topic of reconciliation from the perspective of employment and integration of excluded people into the labor market. The fight against discrimination of workers with family responsibilities requires establishing conditions for them to face their professional challenges with reliability. Quality public services for children and adults, adaptation of working time to family needs and public benefits to ensure access to parental leave are key issues that reconciliation policies can not ignore. This book analyzes the International, European and Comparative Law of reconciliation policies and assesses concrete experiences of some Member States of the European Union -the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Bulgaria-, the Nordic States -Norway- and the United States of America. With so plural approach there are many political and regulatory proposals which can orientate the decisions in this field.
